I can never resist a great sale - even if it's for something I don't want and probably will never use. <br /><br />Advertisers know this. <br /><br />They use bright red posters with yellow lettering as bait and know that like a moth to a flame, mesmerized by the brightly burning neon signs, I will be made weak. I will ache for the touch of the markdown tag, wanting to reach deep (sometimes very deep) into my pocketbook for the only salve that can stop the burn...cash.<br /><br />So, on a recent trip to our local mall on a quest for a new pair of shoes to go with the dress I've picked out to wear to our son's double wedding, (that's a whole other story)..I passed by a small but eye-catching display of golf carts.<br /><br />As I said before it was the sign. It was artfully arranged over a bright red golf cart. I slowed. <br /><br />That's all that was needed. With the swiftness of a jackal after a wounded lamb, the salesman was at my side. "Can I show you this beautiful shiny red cart, Miss?"<br /><br />In the course of 30 minutes and with a flurry of basic marketing maneuvers, I became the proud owner of a brand new shiny red Bag Boy Navigator - with 360 degree front wheel suspension. . . and remote control.<br /><br />(He had me at the "Miss")<br /><br />My husband was in the garage as I pulled in the driveway. There was no way I could hide my latest purchase, so I did what any red blooded American woman would do - I put on my best smile and said. . .<br /><br />"Happy Birthday!"<br /><br />Pause. . .<br /><br />"It's not my birthday for three months. . . ."<br /><br />Pause. . .<br /><br />But he didn't complain much, because he absolutely loved his new golf cart. <br /><br />As he headed off to the golf course, to try out his new toy, I promised to stay away from flashing signs like <span style="font-weight:bold;">Golf Carts For Sale</span> so we can continue living happily ever after. <br /><br />Here is a photo of my hubby's new cart. <br /><br />If you are looking for a golf cart and have an aversion to For Sale Signs, I have compiled an online list of <span style="font-style:italic;">Golf Carts for Sale</span>.
